News from NAA
NEW
PARTNERSHIP
PROTECTS NAA MEMBERS
NAA
is proud to announce its new partnership with Forrest T. Jones & Company,
Inc. (FTJ), one of the most widely recognized group insurance companies in
the nation. Throughout the years, FTJ has worked hand-in-hand with
professional associations in adding value to member and customer programs
through quality insurance products. And now, NAA members can benefit through
a variety of insurance coverage benefits exclusive to its NAA membership.
"This an amazing advantage to members of NAA and our affiliates,”
says Judy Nee, President and CEO of NAA, “We are an Association whose
primary purpose is to support the needs of our members. This new partnership
with FTJ supports that mission by offering a variety of affordable insurance
coverage options our members need and deserve.”
Benefit privileges will include access to insurance coverage for life,
disability, health, auto, and professional liability at dramatically reduced
rates. FTJ will send NAA members enrollment materials and “membership only
rates” in the very near future. In addition important details will be
available on-line located on the newly updated NAA website,
www.naaweb.org
soon. Members can also visit
www.ftj.com
to learn more.
Nee says, “We are thrilled and honored that FTJ has invited the NAA and
its affiliates to be their partner. This is the beginning of many more good
things to come for NAA and its members."

Who is
the Ohio AfterSchool Association?
The Ohio AfterSchool Association (OAA) is the
leading professional organization for those who work with school-age children
during their out of school time.
OAA advocates for and educates school age
professionals throughout Ohio.
In 1986, several Ohio leaders in school age care
came together and realized that a professional organization was needed to support and advocate for school age children and providers. The group
worked diligently to provide training opportunities
dealing with school age topics which gave in-service credit. As the
membership grew, the need for area representatives became necessary so that all
areas of the state could be represented and resources delivered. A small
grant was given to each of the eight Ohio Department of Education regions to
establish these regional coalitions.

Why does
Ohio need such an organization?
Youth and
school-age issues are at the top of political and social agendas all over the
nation. Organizations such as OAA provide those working in this field an
opportunity to effect change on a state, national and local level.
Membership in OAA also includes membership in the
National AfterSchool Association.
Who should join OAA?
Anyone working
with youth through an after school program, recreational center, teen program,
church, or other community group is welcome to join. The organization is
open to executive directors, staff, program personnel, parents, and community
leaders.
What can OAA do for me?
 |
Meet with other professionals in
your field. There is no substitute for personal contact with colleagues and
experts. By meeting together we can help each other solve problems, share
resources, and improve the quality of care we provide to children.
|
 |
Sharpen your skills.
Attending workshops, conferences, and seminars makes you better able to interact
with parents and children. Membership offers discounts to national, state, and
local conferences.
|
 |
Collaboration. OAA can give
you the chance to work with others in the professional field to
provide new and innovative programs for youth.
|
 |
Keep up with new laws or
legislation and innovations in school age care. OAA will provide you with
up-to-date information concerning legislation, regulations, lobbying
efforts, current trends, and other information concerning school age issues.
